Colonialism plays a role in shaping the trajectories and constructing the success or failure of a country, explicitly seen through the Dominican Republic and Haiti. Two nations sharing the island of Hispaniola, rooted in the exploitation of their indigenous communities and African slaves, the legacy of colonial rule and imperialism has left economic and social scars. Yet today, one country thrives while the other falls into complete instability. Through analysis of each country's history and policies, this research aims to explore the transition of both countries from their beginnings. The proposed experiment of interviews and analysis examines the economic and social factors and how colonialism shaped them into what they are today.
